Miqiu - a versatile artist who promotes and develops theories to integrate art and technology. From 1982 - 1986, he was engaged in the regeneration planning of 44 scenic areas and 24 historical cities in China. 10 years of art-pursuing experiences in Europe won him a title of “the first Chinese artist having a full understanding of western Modernism”. In 1996, he returned to China and set up “Mi Qiu Modern Art Studio” in Shanghai. That year, he won MOVADO Award for “Outstanding Contribution to Cultural Art”. Based on his theory on the integration of art and technology in application, he developed the concept of “ArTech”. Two years later, many of his works won major international awards, including “Happy Existence” project, environmental art work “WISH2000 Art Program”, “Mi Qiu Studio (North Bund)”, and “Tao’s Residence”. In 2006, after winning Spanish “Inspiration and Design” Award, his major work – “Manifesto” also won “Outstanding Contribution to Architecture and Art “ Award in Venice Biennale of Architecture. With his current works of the “Declaration of Holy Land” of Lugu Lake and “Thousands in one World” in Tongli, Mi Qiu begins to re-think about the force of urban energy and persisting and emphasizing the concept of combining “art and technology” in the projects.
