Global Titans of Interior Design Flock to 100% Design Shanghai and International Home Décor and Design

2011-05-18

A number of leading international brands and country national pavilions have  recently confirmed their participation

Today, Reed Exhibitions, organiser of 100% Design Shanghai and International Home Décor and Design (IHDD) confirmed that the formidable trio of the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic and Japan will be among the high profile national pavilions to be featured at this year’s 100% Design Shanghai & IHDD shows.

Last year, 100% Design Shanghai & IHDD registered a tremendous success by attracting 148 of the top indoor design and luxurious home décor brands to showcase their creations. Additionally, nearly 12,000 visitors came to the show in just three days. The exhibiting delegations from Japan and the Czech Republic were particularly popular among visitors because of the originality of their products. Many of the international exhibitors from last year’s delegations felt strongly that China was on course to become the most important market, emerging or established. They viewed 100% Design Shanghai and IHDD as the ideal channels through which to enter the Chinese market. In 2011, these two events will be held from November 3 to November 5 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center. Again this year, a high number of international exhibitors are expected to participate.

In 2010, the Japanese delegation, organized by the country’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, brought a total of 11 brands to this event. These included furniture, lamps, adornments, dishware and fragrances that epitomized Japanese craftsmanship and design. Because they used new concepts to improve and innovate, the products were very well received and achieved a positive exhibition effect.

In 2011, Japan will again send a delegation to showcase key design brands at IHDD to provide a wider view of Japanese designs to the Chinese market. “Japanese creations are hugely popular among Chinese buyers. This was borne out by the fact that we received such a high number of enquiries at our first participation in IHDD last year. So overwhelming was the response, we decided almost immediately to take part again. We are eager to present new, innovative designs from 10 Japanese companies to the Chinese market this year”, said Takemasa Kihara, Chief Delegate from Kihara Inc. Kihara Inc. is a yaki manufacturer with a tradition and pedigree that dates back over 400 years. It is one of the leading companies in the Japanese exhibition delegation.

This year, 100% Design Shanghai & IHDD will also enjoy strong support from the UK, where the 100% Design series originated. Sue Graves, Project Manager for the British Contract Furnishing Association (BCFA), confirmed that UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) in line with their policy of helping UK exporters to succeed globally, had committed support for 100% Design Shanghai. “We believe that 100% Design Shanghai and IHDD 2011 will be two tremendous platforms for UK companies”, said Ms. Graves.

The BCFA continues to help new and established exporters to explore vital new markets overseas. “We have identified 100% Design Shanghai & IHDD as great channels for UK companies, who are leading manufacturers, suppliers and designers of furnishing services both in the UK and in many other world markets. We believe these exhibitions can serve as a powerful springboard for UK companies to expand their markets to China,” explained Ms. Graves.

Alongside the confirmed national pavilions, Reed Exhibitions has also said that several more national pavilions, over and above those that took part in last year’s event, will be there in 2011. Details of these additional exhibitors will be released as they are confirmed in the coming months. The caliber of exhibitors that 100% Design Shanghai & IHDD regularly attract is testament to the fact that China, as a market, is registering more and more strongly on the international design radar. The interior design and furniture brands now attract widespread international attention on a consistent basis.

A leading event in modern interior design, as well as in high-end, luxury home décor, 100% Design Shanghai & IHDD 2011 will take place between November 3 and November 5 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center. A diverse array of inspiring, eye-catching designs will be displayed on the show floor. Together, the two exhibitions will serve as a one-stop, integrated sourcing platform for buyers and a wide range of other industry professionals, including chief designers, architects, property developers, luxury hoteliers, proprietors of boutique hotels and High Net Worth Individuals.
