100% Design Shanghai, International Home Décor & Design 2011 Secure More High Profile Exhibitors

18/08/2011

This year, visitors to 100% Design London will see a newly launched initiative – The Director’s Cut. This invitation-only showcase will feature the very best in British design and manufacturing. Participation will be limited to ten design and brand partnerships that embody unparalleled creativity and ingenuity in product design. Julieann Humphryes – Head of yoo Design Studio and a Non-Executive Director of 100% Design, will curate the showcase. Following its launch in London, the concept of The Director’s Cut will be transplanted to Shanghai in November.

Visitors to 100% Design Shanghai this year will enjoy international design at its best. The exclusive selection of the most outstanding designs will focus on a few hand-picked creations to heighten the revelatory element that is so integral to the show. Michael Young, Creative Director of 100% Design Shanghai, will participate in the selection of brands for the Shanghai version of The Director’s Cut. Having worked with 100% Design for over 10 years, the British Mr. Young is a passionate believer in the event’s global impact. Setting up an office in Hong Kong has allowed him to weave together the Far Eastern threads of his experience with the original Western influences around which he grew up. The result is an enthralling celebration of design.

As well as The Director’s Cut, the organisers, Reed Exhibitions, are also pleased to highlight the addition of three key, international players in the interior décor scene – Andari, Altfield and Silk Castle - for this year’s 100% Design Shanghai and IHDD shows. The latter two exhibitors, Altfield and Silk Castle, will use this industry-defining showcase to feature their products for the very first time. By including such high calibre participants, Reed is making a bold statement about the show’s intent to create a dynamic atmosphere in which innovative, trendsetting ideas thrive. Andari, Altfield and Silk Castle join the 140 brands from 20 countries that have already confirmed their participation.

Andari is a supplier of prime fabrics from some of the world’s most renowned fabric houses. Its collage collection Sahco 2011 Decade is a captivating array of elegant, vibrantly coloured materials that exude sensuality. Graphic forms are used in the designs to evoke a contemporary, unusual style of art deco that is subtle yet visually appealing.

Another of the company’s innovations is KINNASAND presenting with RESET 2011 an authentic textile collection wherein material, weaving technique and finishing respond to the origin of textile commonness. A collection is to express a significant textile art that declares the need for external clarity and internal structure. RESET by Kinnasand – time for a restart of all senses and for concentration on the essentials.

The third of the company’s offerings is the Dedar 2011 Collection - The collection of fabrics, wallpapers, trimmings, seductively coloured palettes and unconventional patterns. Dedar combines precious yarns, traditional techniques and new fibre technologies to classic effect.

Visitors with an eye for exquisite craftsmanship will be delighted with Samuel & Sons’ passementerie - a long coveted source of the finest quality trimmings, such as tassels, borders, braids, gimp, fringes and more. A penchant for colour will also be fully satisfied by exclusive collections of diverse materials like silk, wool, grass and wood. Andari’s respect for tradition, quest for quality and passion for fabrics is behind the creation of its distinctly classic designs and cutting edge textile technologies. The company does not keep pace with trends – it sets them.

Alongside Andari, Altfield, a leading supplier of several well-known brands of home furnishing fabrics, wall coverings, lighting and hardware, will also be on-site.

A mainstay of the Hong Kong market for nearly thirty years, the Altfield Group now has showrooms in the UK, Macau and Shanghai, where many of the most prestigious home furnishing brands in the world - including Colefax & Fowler, Jane Churchill, Larsen, Manuel Canovas, Rubelli Group, Brochier, Pierre Frey Group and Rocky Mountain Hardware - are showcased.

Creativity and commitment to quality have led Altfield to the leading position among interior design showrooms in Hong Kong. The company’s specialties are wall coverings, lighting, leather and hardware brands – many of which will be on display at 100% Design Shanghai.

100% Design Shanghai will not only have a strong international flavour this year, the show will also illuminate the innovation and originality in the thriving local interior design scene. Chinese firms from across the country are set to descend on Shanghai to strut their stuff for an international audience.

One such local enterprise is high-end wall covering specialist Silk Castle, a company that is committed to designing, manufacturing and selling high-end wall coverings and home décor products. This subsidiary of the Seegreen Group can be seen in some of China’s most exclusive venues, including the Ritz-Carlton and Pangu 7 Star hotels, as well as several other landmark buildings and high-end addresses.
