After a second successful year of 100% Design Shanghai and International Home Décor and Design, Reed Exhibitions is pleased to announce that Base Design, a global branding consultancy, will work alongside creative director Michael Young to shape the overall look and feel of the exhibition space. The exhibitions will take place from November 4 through 6, 2010 at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre.

Base (www.basedesign.com) is a creative agency specializing in brand identity development spread out in 6 offices around the world—New York, Brussels, Barcelona, Madrid, Santiago de Chile, and, now, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and composed of graphic designers, art directors, writers, typographers, and film & motion graphics specialists. “I have worked with Base design over the years and they understand how two-dimensional imagery needs to communicate and how in a few seconds they imprint messages on memory,” says Young. “They are perfect for this event in the sense that 100% Design Shanghai / IHDD is part of a growing cross-cultural market in Asia, and Base can help it be understood globally.”

“We at Base are thrilled to be working with 100% Design Shanghai—for many reasons,” says New York–based managing director Geoffrey Cook. “Base not only has a background in broad cultural identity work but a strong interest in design at large, which makes us a perfect fit for 100% Design Shanghai and China. The project has also given us the chance to flex our muscles in graphic design, typography, art direction, and motion graphics, and to bring together our network of studios and international employees for a global perspective that fits the scope of the project. We are especially excited about working again with Michael Young, with whom we've had many successful collaborations over the years.”

Past and current clients of Base include brands in the luxury sector, such as Chanel, PUMA, Yves Saint Laurent Beauté, L'Oréal. The firm specializes in servicing the art world, with major branding campaigns for New York’s Museum of Modern Art, Miami Art Museum, Jeff Koons and Gagosian Gallery, La Monnaie (National Opera of Belgium), The Reina Sofia, and Orchestra of St Luke's. The rest of the portfolio comprises work for corporate clients such as Mobistar, Coca-Cola, Pantone, Johnson & Johnson and work for celebrities such as Isabella Rossellini, Kanye West, and Tilda Swinton.
