100% Design Shanghai and International Home Décor and Design (IHDD) concluded on a high note in 2010 with 148 leading brands in contemporary interior designs and luxury home décor, showcasing their finest to about 12,000 visitors in just three days. Majority of the exhibitors have rebooked their space for 2011 and the show will return to Shanghai with expected size to be increased by at least 50%. Riding on its past successes and the highly potential Chinese market, the organizer is eager to unveil several highlights that will draw the buyers back to Shanghai Exhibition Center from November 3 to November 5.
Organisers of the Czech Pavilion were the first to endorse the event with its second participation. With good feedback received at their debut in 2010, Ales Cervinka of the Czech Trade Office in Shanghai said, “The Czech Trade Office participated for the first time in 100% Design Shanghai and IHDD 2010. The feedback we got from our exhibitors indicated that they were very satisfied with the outcomes. They came across many visitors who were interested in Czech designs and products. For this reason, we look forward to bringing even more exhibitors to the show this year.”
Also back at the exhibition is Michael Young, who has also confirmed his second appointment for being the Creative Director of 100% Design Shanghai. British-born and Hong Kong based, Young is one of the leading product designers in the world. Young explained, “This year will reflect the importance for International brands to have a presence in the China market as it develops and grows into public consciousness rather than trying to enter it once it has already developed. This exhibition is the only platform in Asia to provide a clear brand communication at this level. With the interior design market growing through increased inner city development, the demand for quality production and good design is being further understood by local consumers. As the exhibition grows in both number of visitors and quality exhibitors, will one get the clear impression of being caught in the moment of new business opportunities that will allow creative freedom”.
In response to increasing market demand, 100% Design Shanghai 2011 will introduce two pavilions - Window Solutions and Decorative Materials, particularly used in building construction. Propertywire.com estimated that by 2020, the global construction market will be valued at USD 12.7 trillion. It is predicted that then, China will have 19.1% share of the industry worth $2.4 trillion. This will mean an increase in residential property being built as it is the largest construction market globally. Shanghai, Hong Kong and Beijing are named as the top three real estate investment prospects in Asia by the Emerging Trends in Real Estate Asia Pacific 2010 report from the Urban Land Institute and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
High-end window solutions design and material manufacturers like SOMFY, Nice Group, Tabu, Elitis, JMT, Passo, Aura and Glen Raven have confirmed their participation in the 2011 exhibition. Wang Qing, Strategy Marketing Manager of Somfy is supportive of the exhibition, she said, “We are satisfied with the exhibition. Visitors’ quality is very good, they are very interested in our products.” At press time, 80% of booths in the Window Solutions and Materials pavilions have been booked by exhibitors.
Sharing the stage with 100% Design Shanghai is IHDD, which will showcase high-end, luxury interior design products and home accessories. Boston Consulting Group said that high net-worth households will grow from 417,000 to 609,000 by 2011 as luxury brand competition moves to China's developing inland cities. New exhibitors at IHDD 2011 include Baomo and Coco-Mat, both confirming their participation as early as late last year. Coco-Mat, one of the leading mattress manufacturers in Europe, is looking forward to their debut in IHDD. Charles Wang, General Manager of Coco-Mat said, “We have assessed the exhibition for a year and visited IHDD 2010 in order to make our final decision. We were impressed with the quality of visitors and exhibitors that we confirmed our participation straight away. We are excited to present our latest products to our buyers in China.”
100% Design Shanghai and IHDD has received good reviews from the visitors and buyers for its consideration for commercial outcomes and unique focus for creative details. With 98% of them stating their interest to visit the exhibition again in 2011, 100% Design Shanghai and IHDD 2011 endeavour to be inspiring and engaging. The exhibition will also be a comprehensive one-stop sourcing platform for the buyers and specifiers.
